Field Documentation That Supports Better Site Decisions

Latitude approaches tree surveying as part of understanding the existing site before development begins. We locate and document trees relevant to the project and, when required by the applicable scope or local requirements, collect characteristics such as size or species that can help the design and permitting team evaluate existing vegetation.

A Required Part of the Tree Permit Process in Charlotte County

Charlotte County requires applicants proposing development to submit a tree survey as part of the Tree Permit Application. According to Q10.6 of the County’s Frequently Asked Questions, the survey must show the development site boundaries and the location of individual trees with a caliper of 4 inches or greater, including their common names and approximate caliper measurements. Charlotte County — Tree Permit FAQ, Q10.6

The County also requires the tree survey to provide a full inventory of existing and proposed improvements, clearly identifying trees proposed for removal and those to be preserved. The Tree Permit Application must be submitted with the building permit application and before development, clearing, or earthwork begins. Charlotte County — Tree Fact Sheet
